new 36000 mile cummins warrenty

well my son is sitting in tucsons Bill Brecks dodge repair facility right now waiting to have a new engine shipped in and installed. Dropped the number 5 piston and is throwing oil out the blow by. But what the hey, it has 80,000 miles on it already. Probably too much stress from the new 3000 dollar injection pump we just put on it.
said to look at between 2-4 weeks to get it done. the aftermarket warrenty will pick up three days food lodging and rental car so guess i count that into my blessing side?
good news is that the new engine will carry the balance of the 100,000 mile original warrenty (meaning the new engine gets a 20,000 mile warrenty.) They said if I were buying it myslf according to a new Dodge directive it would carry a 36000 mile warrenty?
getting harder and harder to justify this dodge cummins partnership

but after a little thinking on it i guess it could be worse. if i had 99000 miles on it the new engine would only have a 1000 mile warranty !!
wonder what the warranty would be if i had had 100,001 miles on it?

Well it could be a lot worse, it could be a ford, I read on the ford site the other day a guy had a rod come through the side of his engine. A ford rep. came out and looked and saw where he had added a lift kit, an exhaust and I believe a different air filter. They voided his warranty and basically told him he was S.O.L.

The engines come out of Michigan and it does take awile to get them delivered out here in the west. It also takes a bit to transfer parts and install. It's a suck job.
