Need Help! drained, changed fuel filter, primed, started, died, won't start

Drained the fuel filter housing, changed filter, primed by bumping starter to run lift pump 3x, started, ran rough and died, won't start. I guess it didn't get a good prime, how do I bleed line/s or whatever to get it started again? It's a 2002. Thanks Matt

Try taking to top off the filter housing and see if you have fuel back to the filter, if not pour clean fuel into the housing and replace the filter top. That's what I did with my 2002.

Can also loosen off the banjo bolt on the IP, and run the LP until fuel comes out of there and tighten back up. Might need to crack some injector lines to get it going. My truck took around 30 seconds of cranking to get it to fire up and run.

If you can't get it primed after you open the bango bolt you have a dead LP. Unless you have a fuel pressure guage you have no way of knowing if it is primed.

When mine did it when I installed my fuel pressure gauge after I took the valve core out of the bango fitting I don't know why but I think I was thinking back to the days of gas engines but I subconsciously feathered the throttle on mine and it fired right up after a little bit of cranking I was always under the impression it did no good to do that on a non carborated motor?

Thanks Jason,
Gaily bedight, A gallant knight, In sunshine and in shadow Had journeyed long, Singing a song, In search of Eldorado But he grew old— This knight so bold— And o’er his heart a shadow Fell as he found No spot of ground That looked like Eldorado And, as his strength Failed him at length, He met a pilgrim shadow—“Shadow,” said he, “Where can it be— This land of Eldorado?” “Over the Mountains Of the Moon, Down the Valley of the Shadow, Ride, boldly ride,” The shade replied, “If you seek for Eldorado!”

Thanks guys, I ended up double posting this as I couldn't find original posting. Checked for fuel at shrader valve (per reply) and had fuel, bumped starter and cranked 3x each, when it started. Info I've gotten from some was that if cranked enough times it would purge itself. Again thanks for the replys.

When I put my new Vulcan/FP gauge in, had a problem starting. I feathered the throtle, cranked the stuff out of it, it finally came to life. When I put the other gauges in, it also has a problem starting, not sure why. Did The same procedure got it going.
I think sometimes you just have to hold your tongue right!
