muffler delete

The BOMB bug bit me again...

I've read enough about it I'm now going to do it! I got the muffler currently off the back of the resinator... I LOVE IT...

I'm going to head into town and pick up a chuck of 3" pipe 65" inches long and two clamps!!!

I guess it's time to change the signature...

??? Why 3 inch instead of 4?? Or did your truck come with 3" stock? Mine was 4 except for the down pipe to the resignator.....

Mine has 3" from the turbo down to the resinator. From the resinator to the muffler is 4" then out of the back of the muffler is 3" again. After it turns out then it's flared out to 4" again... I guess DC couldn't make up there mind.

Well as for the muffler delete... I LOVE IT! Nice bass note behind me! It cost me all of $30.00 bucks to get the pipe and have it flared on the ends. It took 64" of pipe to do it on my LWB truck. Sure can hear the turbo whistle now...

Signature updated - Now I need some pics of it!!

i was wondering if you could get in trouble from the law my hacking the resonator off, right now i got a piece of flex replacing the muffler, but it just isnt loud enough for me so i want to take off the resonator to, but i dont want to get a huge fine for doing so.

It is a resonator, not a cat, no more illegal than pulling the muffler. I could not imagone mine with a muffler again.

Well,

I was smart enough to keep the ol' cans for later if I sell the truck or if Jonny law get a bit upset with it.

But I did notice the performance increased abit. Turbo does spool faster. Less #2 black smoke out the pipe. I think my fuel mileage went up a bit too. I find out soon and let you know...

As for the drone that people talk about... I don't hear any at all! I guess because of the LWB and having the pipe all the way to the rear of the truck. Matter of fact cruising at 65 MPH with the windows down you can't hear it. But starting out from a stop it does make some noise but not bad... But if your around 35 MPH and "Kick that pig!" next to a canyon wall you can hear it quite nicely!!!

I would like to hear from others about there "Pipe Dreams!"

I've been wanting to do this SOOO bad, but the only place that has pipe large enough is closed by the time I get out of school every day.

What do you guys do about the hangars?

I love the sound of mine too....especially when there is a building, big rig, punk in a ricer, or whatever on my passenger side. Driving through tunnels or in parking garages is fun too
The hangar by the tranny is still there, and so are the tailpipe hangars. I saved the rubber isolator pieces from the old junk for possible future use on a 4" system, and I've yet to notice any problems without the other original hangars inplace.

I had a muffler shop install the pipe on mine, they welded new hangers on the pipe so it is hung as stock, but no muffler or resonator. Been that way now for about 250k.

I've gotten a few comments about my pipes.

Mostly saying it's LOUD! It echoes through the canyon. Is there a magic trick to controlling the note. I being playing with different shift point to reduce this in town.

Out on the highway at 65-70 MPH I can't hear the pipe at all... I can't hear any exhaust noise until about 35-40 MPh then it comes back again. At 25 MPH it kind of cool but in a narrow canyon it does echo quite well...

I would like to keep this but I got to learn how to drive in the city melow... Any suggestions???

I have my Noise Deleter and cut off and silencer ring out too. I pulled up next to a ricer the other day on a date and the gurl I was on the date with knew the guy in the ricer and didnt like him... so she told me to rev it up and make him mad...now would i do something mean like that???.... nooo.... lol.... YESSSSS... and i did! he yelled out the window ... "what have you done to that thing?'' I said " Nothing its just a six cylinder!" he said "whatever i wanted to race at first but youve got some sort of jet engine in that thing! Forget it." lol i couldnt help but laugh. Because here is me in a 7000lb truck with a 6speed turnin 4:10's and hes in a 2000 lbs honda with like 2:90s lol... i like my dodge but it takes FOREVER to get took off....

short shifting under 2k rpm and light throttle are the only ways to keep the noise lower, for those times that the noise is inappropriate! Cops don't need any reason to look my way...

Thank you, Beast2B!

Yeah, I was just getting the hand of that one... We have one cop in town that is a real pain in the rear end. The other cop is really quite cool... So I just need to re-learn how to drive my truck...

I also notice that the low end torque has improved quite a bit! I was never able to cruise town at 25-30 MPH in 4 gear and pulling 1,200 RPM's... Not a problem now....

I notice also the the deep note will usually disappear when you get 1,500 RPM's and highier with a light GO pedal...

But "Kick that PIG!" in 2nd or 3rd gear and look out... It wants to roll now! It also LOUD & PROUD!

Like the smoke stories - I guess I started the PIPE & NOISE STORIES!
