mileage with dually

What do you all see with regular driving? around 60 mix city and highway?

Ill ask here just for osme input. Got this problem if my truck sits. It is an auto. But in the morning when i hop in to go to work Ill put it in gear and the first take off i have to really rev it up to get it going. after that its fine. Usually take off is around 900 rpm. when it screws up i have about 1400-0500. would that be the torque converter?

Re:mileage with dually

My 98.5 got about 14 this winter. 15 before that.
As far as your trans is concerned, I'm not sure of the problem but try warming it up in neutral. That will get the fluid moving through the trans immediately and it will sometimes help with this problem.

I agree with Dogezilla. Mine showed the same numbers and I have seen a high of 21.5 on totally interstate driving. Also do the neutral warmup. It only needs a couple minutes and really helps.
Ed

Re:mileage with dually

On your model year truck if it sits very long (over night) the torque converter drains back and that is what you are experencing. If you put it in neutral for less than a minute before you put it in drive it will act normal. No problems this is normal for your truck. I get 17-18 mpg with my dually but it only has 9000 miles on it and is not broke in yet.

Re:mileage with dually

I know that 10 K is equal to 6 miles so that would make 1 k equal to .6 miles (If my two eighth grade oklahoma educations are right) :

Re:mileage with dually

BTW, I have managed to milk 26 mpg going 55 with a empty truck and average about 14 mpg pulling a 14,000 pound RV.

Normally though, I get about 20 mph going back and forth to work passing all them gas trucks.

Re:mileage with dually

KM to mile conversion is 1 kilometer = 0.6214 mile.
Depending on wind etc. empty a high of 18.7 mpg, towing 5er 10 to 14 mpg. The slightest head wind has significant impact on performance.
