Metal Stitching to repair cracked #53 block
I think it is crap that Cummins will not stand behind this better. I have threatened them with legal action, they don't care. I have thought about starting a website excusively about this problem, and getting takers to pursue a class action suite against Cummins, they know there was a major defect effecting 4 years of production.

Did anyone that had there block replaced have Cummins do the work or did you have Dodge do the work?

If it under 100,000 miles and 5 years Dodge has to fix it. If it happens after that it's up to Cummins to make you an offer, they are not obligated to do anything. It's just good P.R. Try to talk to Kent Scobel.
I was the recipient of the 53 award a few years ago, I took the Cummins offer of $4000 out of my pocket. That's the best I could get.
And there is a website solely for 53 owners, do a search for Stamey or 53 block and you'll find more info then you'll ever want to know.
I believe Cummins and Dodge corporate offices are both about 5 or 6 stories high, with the first 4 floors occupied by lawyers, so good luck with a lawsuit

I agree about the lawsuit. I am sure there is more red tape than it is really worth. I have talked to Ken Scoble and he has offered me the standard deal that I hear of everyone else. I am just not to sure where to take my truck. I have a quote from Cummins Southern Plains and it is 3K.
I have 144K on my truck and I am the second owner.
