99 24 valve short box...
I've bin noticing lately when I hit bump on road I hear a metal clank in the back part of my truck... I have no tools or anything in cab... it sounds like metal on metal when driving over a small pot hole or small bump..


any ideas

Do you have the rear sway bar? Check links etc, also check shock absorber mounting and sheetmetal cover on piston ( loose and rattling ).

Mine does the same thing and it is the tailgate, I need to replace the plastic bushings in the pivot cup.

 

Just crawl under the truck and start wiggling metal pieces and see what's loose. Things like cross members, exhaust brackets, etc. sometimes come loose. It's one of the checks I do on my truck annually.
