Max fuel pressure????

I just replaced my lift pump on my 2001 CTD and I wasn't pleased with the fuel pressure. It was slow to come up on startup and would run at 14psi at idle. At WOT it would drop down to around 7psi. I decided to put my PPE 160 with fuel pressure switch inline with the stock fuel pump and I located it close to the tank on the fuel rail. Now at idle I have 26psi and I can't pull it down past 18psi at WOT. The truck seems to pull much better with the additional pump. Is there anything that I could hurt by running that high a fuel pressure?

I`ve been running at 26/29 psi at idle for over two years with no problems.

i don't know why any one would want 26 psi, any thing more than 15 is not in the vp 44's design
