MAP Sensor

I need to take truck to the dealer for some work and need to remove comp box. I have misplaced OEM MAP sensor and one of our dealers here in the valley says my truck never had one in the first place. The comp install directions called it a MAP sensor. Is there another name for this sensor to help me tell the dealer what I need?

Thanks for the help

I'm a little confused. The comp plugs into the MAP sensor ( what's with the dealer saying you don't have one? ) I don't see how it could be missing. You should unplug the comp from an adapter, remove the adapter, and plug the map connector back in. Why do you want to remove the comp anyway? Do you have warranty left?

Still have warranty and have a water leak, either head gasket or freeze plug cant tell which. Thinks its the gasket and dont want dealer to have any excuse not to cover under warranty.

If you are taking off the Edge, For the MAP sensor connection, all you have to do is to unplug the adaptor harness from the trucks stock wiring and pluf the trucks stock plug into the MAP itself.

Whe the Edge was installed, the stock MAP sensor would have stayed on and the Edge has an adapter to plug into it.

Do mean the Dodge Dealer?? They can't even repair a Cummins properly much less call it's parts the proper name. The Cummins manuals, parts books and dealers call it a MAP sensor. The following is from Hoesli Diesel, a Cummins dealer I buy parts from on-line. Their prices are excellent.

Part #4921497 Sensor, MAP (98.5-99)
Part #4921505 Sensor, MAP (2001-2002)

Easy on the dealers fella Some years have boost sensors and some have map sensors.Of course you know all about them and the difference right?

Yes I understand that there is a difference. But this thread has been about a MAP sensor on a 2002 24-valve. You're right, I'm not sure what year truck Mike Perez bought a Boost/MAP sensor for. So I do appoligize for my harsh remarks of dealers, tho I'm sure there are many people on DTR who feel the same. But Cummins 24-valve motors from 1998.5 thru 2002 have MAP sensors.

I know I'm resurrecting an old thread but I'm having a directly related issue. I just got a MAP sensor for my '02 and I noticed the new one I bought (supposed to be for '02 diesel 2500) only has one prong inside. The connector itself has 3 wires going into the back of it. I don't want to go through the work of getting the old one out if my new one is wrong. I brought this up at the counter when I bought it but the man said no, this is the part number for your truck. I don't have it with me but I'll get it posted later or x-ref with the above numbers.
