Manual trans fluid

This seems like a silly question to me,, but what kind of fluid should I put into my transmission? I have a 99 cummins 5sp manual. My manual and my chilton both just recommend a mopar part# type fluid. There isn't some particular grade I'm suppose to run am I?

ALso,, what about the transfer case? I was pretty sure that got dexron II or III ATF in the transfer case.

Deer season coming up, 4 hr drive, want to top everything off before I go.

Thanks!

The tag on my 5 spd says to use Castrol Synthetic Lt.
The manual also says it's not necessary to service it unless there is a loss of fluid.

The OEM Castrol Syntorq LT in the 5 speed is a 75W-85 GL4 synthetic gear lubricant. As stated, available from a dealer, or from standardtransmission.com for $54 a gallon.

OK, thanks! I was hoping I could just pick something up for it at a regular parts store but I guess not.. oh well.. I hate to pay that much for fluids, but I guess it's worth it if it keeps everything working.

I havent even ever checked the fluid in my trans or transfer case, dont expect them to be low but you never know

So, was I right in guessing that the transfer case get atf?

Thanks for the replies!

Having gone thru 4 5spds you need to change the fluid about every 60k if you tow and about 75k if you dont. The manual says 100k dont believe it. I run royal purple in mine and haven't had a problem called them first to make sure and they said it is ok

I guess I need to change mine. I'm at about 170k with no problems. The clutch is getting a little puny though.

Redline MT90 in 5 speeds..MTL in 6 speeds wasn't it?

If just topping off...then the Mopar won't be too bad $. If changing...go Redline IMHO.

ATF+4 in a transfer case is not needed. Any Dexron is fine. I use Redline there too though (ATF+4 equivalent). $6.50 per quart for all of the above.
