im somewhat new to all this and everyone has helped me greatly before, i was wondering what yall suggest in respect to oil change and fuel filter intervals. also, ive learned that dc will void ur warranty if u tow without changing the rear axle lubricant to synthetic, i will not pay the ******* to do but my question is if u use synthetic and have a limited-slip do u have to mix in the additive used for the limited slip? thanks for the help

With Amsoil, there is no additive. You purchase a different type for a limited slip rear. I don't know about other brands.

Chris

Re:maintence

My schedule is: Oil change at 15,000 miles along with fuel filter. Oil filter change every 3-5K, and anything with a grease zerk gets grease at that time. I'm running full synthetic 15W-40 in the engine.

Some have reported chatter in LSDs when changing to synthetic even when no friction modifier was required per lube manufacturer. I haven't had a problem with mine, and didn't add any modifier. Remember to drive the truck 8-10 times in a tight figure of 8 pattern after changing the lube to get the new stuff worked in. If towing quite often, some recommend 75W-140.

The Dana 80 holds 5.05 quarts. Good luck!

Re:maintence

Go by your owners manual, based on your driving style. Can run from 3750 miles to 7500 miles for oil and filter, based on type of driving (these intervals will cover you for any warranty claims). For the rear differential just go get some Mobil 1 75W90 synthetic gear lube and some Mopar limited slip. All of the limited slips are different from the factory, some will need no additive and some will need alot. Best thing to do is try it without additive (do figure 8's) if it does not pop your OK, if it does add some Mopar limited slip additive and try again. After your first change you will know the right amount for your truck. Good luck.
