Lower boost pressure and MAP code
Lower boost pressure and MAP code
I had a thread going on this a while ago but it was a rambler so I wanted to start a new one that was more focused on the subject. I have always been able to pull 21 plus lbs. of boost stock, I attributed it to a wastegate problem. Since it was in my favor I did not do anything about it. I put in a Quadzilla XZT and that took care of the overboost defeuling from the ECM. Now I am starting to get a code telling me I have low map voltage and I am also seeing substantially less boost than before. I figure the lower boost is either a hole in the lower passenger side boost hose right where the A/C sensor rubs on it or the wastegate broke loose and is now working. I cannot feel a hole, I will have to rotate the hose to see. The code is bothering me because it has hit twice in a week which tells me something is setting it off. Any ideas? The Quad is only used in position one and always has been so I don't think that is it because nothing has changed there. Could the MAP sensor be going bad and be cutting me back on fuel causing both of my issues?

If no boost leaks are found and the wastegate isn't seized then most likely sensor. Using paper clip or other suitable jumper, connect the sensor 5 volt feed to the signal wire. If code switches to volts high then replace the MAP sensor

Has anyone had the A/C pressure sensor wear a hole in the right lower intercooler hose/ Mine is just barely touching at rest so I know it is rubbing hard when the boost is up. It is pretty hard to get too so I have not been able to move it around to see if I actually have a hole or not. Where is the best place to buy new hoses?

When I replaced my hoses years ago I had noticed the exact spot you are talking about with the ac sensor. It had not worn through at that point but was very close to wearing through though.
As far as replacement hoses here are few options
complete sets silicone all, cooling or cac with clamps

another option I dont think these are silicone

also silicone

When I replaced mine years ago I got in on a group buy for a complete set of silicone hoses from SPA. They have been awesome. The OEM ones with approx 130k/ 4years on them were in marginal condition. Specifically the boost boot you are referring to with the sensor rubbing it and the lower radiator hose which was extremely mushy (they were far and away the worst of the group). The rest of them were ok but not great and very glad I had spent the money on replacing all of them. I have heard nothing but good about Mr Bobs hoses. While the prices seem high for cac hoses iirc the dealer parts were well over 400 for all the intercooler hoses at least at the time.

The problem as far as the low boost was a leak on the hose by that A/C sensor. It was blowing out under the clamp, had to really crank down on the clamp. Time for new boots. Did get the code one more time while I was working on it but I will drive it a while now that I have it back to normal and see what happens. I do not see where jumping the terminal to 5 volt will tell me anything? it should set a code and that would be normal, that is not testing the sensor in any way.
Barry, Thanks for the links, that was what I was looking for.
