Low Fuel Pressure Issue

I'm coming home from the store and my fuel pressure goes to zero. Luckily, I was close to home, so I was able to idle home. Anything more than that, truck would miss. Changes the fuel filter, it's clean. Fire it up, I'm getting 13psi. The minute I get on the throttle, it drops down towards zero. Suspect the tank pickup filter is plugged? It's a 99 24valve. Are the pickup filters standard in a auto parts store? Should I be concerned about anything else? Truck only has 88K on it.

Sounds like your lift pump is history.Time to start looking for a FASS or Air dog.

Low Pressure

Good luck.
Hope its only the lift pump.
Check for codes, asap..
Try the Fass, they do have a direct replacement pump that plugs right in to original wiring.
I am happy with mine, not as noisy as the big pumps and a lot cheaper.
Also get a low pressure warning light or gauge, insurance and a lot cheaper than a VP44.

A hand operated well pump beats the stock Carter.

I went with a Walbro kit.

There are many options in the marketplace to replace the stock pump.

I recently installed a FASS Platinum 95 in my 2001 2500. So far so good. Check out Geno's Garage, I have purchased several itewms over the years and never screwed (to my knowledge) so far from them. I do know that I checked the idle fuel pressure before (<5psi) and after (>15psi), WOT and >25psi boost, still better than 11psi fuel.

As others have said, anything is better than the Carter POS that came on it and I replaced with before I discovered this forum.

You may be low on fuel. FASS should hold 13-15# solid. If not, call FASS. Don't drive it with low FP - not even at idle (unless you feel like learning about VP install. (Diesel Dan has video of process on youtube.)

My AirDog will drop to 0 when fuel is low and I go around a corner. I paid for the install & dummy put pick up too high. I've read where this is possible if tank was dropped because bottom of tank will push up when lying on the ground. I now keep 1/2 tank or better.

Ok, the latest - I replaced the fuel pickup with a drawstraw (lines were severely corroded and leaking), tank module pick-up screen was spotless. Pump is doing well. Discoverd a new fuel filter plugged (less than 1 mile on the new filter ). Suspect bad fuel. Tested evey component on the truck (replaced all fuel lines, pressure regulator, etc). Tested pump off the truck, good pressure (17 psi - FASS DDRP). Took a full day, but saved the price of a new pump. Need to watch the pressure now - suspect bio in the fuel plugging the filters.
