Long Time Storage?
Long Time Storage?
My nephew has a 2000 similar to my 2001 of course and is leaving for the south pole for 13 months. No, he's not driving! His plans for storing his truck is to fuel it up,put it up on blocks and remove the tires and that's it. Does this sound OK? I'd be worried about starting it after 13 months living in New England with hot and cold temps and possible condensation on the cylinder walls. Anyone have experience with this kind of long term storage
Re:Long Time Storage?
I'd advise heavy dosing with a good diesel fuel additive, and running it for a few miles before putting it away.
Disconnect the batteries and store them in a safe place.
Place some "Bounce" dryer sheets in the cab and under the hood to keep the rodents away.
Or better yet, just leave you the keys so you can give it a good run once or twice a month to keep all the seals lubricated. ;D
