Mine has 196K on it. I'm orignal owner. I think they last longer if you let the stroke a Ford every week. Mine is starting to get hard to start of the mornings even at 50 or so degrees. I just put on a FASS system this weekend. They said I had a bad lift pump.

Side note. I dont think I've ever had that bottle on mine, just the hose hangin off the breather.

I just bought mine last month. The original owner put 195,000 with the original lift pump and VP44. The only thing he ever did to it is replace the head at 110,000 for what he described as dropping a valve. Runs perfect for me, but I will install a fuel preasure guage and warning light as soon as I get back home. I will also be buying a lift pump relocate kit, a spare pump, and be prepareing for the inevitable VP44 failure.

I guess I should chime in here. I hit 190,000 miles on mine the other day. I put a Walbro pump and bigger lines, when I bought the truck with 165,000.
I also have an edge box on it,.. I normally run on 2. I pull with the truck 5 days a week. I give it some tcw3 two stroke oil every tank, and dieseal clean every three or so.
Cross your fingers for me.

I'm the 3rd owner and the fellow I got it from claimed that it was a family owned truck all its life (meaning he knew its history) I got 323,000KMS on the orginal pump, I bought it in May 07 and it had 297,XXX on it, its driven hard 8 hrs a day, 5days a week, everyday I fire it up I expect to put a tranny or a pump in it.
Side note::
I was at a light today, when a newer body style Dodge rolled up gunning to go, so when the light went green we both stood on it and I pulled with him the whole way to the next light, The look of shock on his face was priceless! the Dodge was not badged so I'm guessing it was a gasser
Who needs a Hemi, when ya got a cummins!!

carcajoucummins had over 340,000 miles on his before it died. Mine was still working fine at 154,000 miles but I decided to change it out before making major power changes to the truck.

My VP44 was fine until I moved to California from Montana. I think it was due to the new ULSD. Dead at 80,000.
Maybe I could try and round up a class action lawsuit against someone else now.

I was talking to my cousin tonight, he has a 2002 3500 Dually 2Wd. WORK truck that he has used and abused and never done any real maintenance too. I doubt the fuel filter has been changed very many times along with the oil, he works his truck hard and is always pulling 6000-12000 lb trailers and equipment. Truck has 280k miles on the original VP and LP both. Probably never had an additive put in the fuel either. He is trading it in Monday for a new 6.7L Chassis Cab 2007 4Wd Dually 6 speed with a custom bed, jake brake, tool boxes on the rails etc.

On my 2nd pump-- first died at 40K
I have to say that I think it may have been my fault, though. I suspect I may have over-additized a couple times, and that's all I'm going to say about that.
2nd pump still going strong on my 2002, but I only have 65K or so on my truck.
