lift pump replacement???

I have been debating either backing or replacing my lift pump with an electric fuel pump closer to the tank, I just happen to have two brand new pumps and a regulator laying around. My concern is can too much fuel pressure hurt it? What would be the most I should have? Thanks in advance for any ideas or suggestions.

I have heard that fuel pressure abouve the low 20's can cause hard starting issues. I know a guy that runs his at 30 and doesn't seem to have any problems though. I have my FASS (electric fuel pump) set at 14 and it never goes below 12.
It works for me.
