Lift Pump Relocate?

Has anyone ever moved their lift pump to a location that makes it easier to change? Primarily on a 99 like mine? I know a FASS, or the like, would be better, but some of us can't afford new toys.

It's been done several times. Do a search for it and you should come up with something.

Never heard of moving the factory lift pump. Most, when they do something, they are eliminating the factory lift pump. Many mount the Holley fuel pumps on the frame, just in front of the fuel tank.
See pics here: http://www.stamey.info/truck/fuelpump1.htm
BTW, I don't have that system on my truck anymore, upgraded to a FASS so it's for sale. PM me if interested.

I'm not ready to change yet, but I will keep you in mind.

I do some driving through tall weeds and sometimes sage brush. With the pumps mounted on the frame, in the open, how susceptible are they to damage?

The way mine mounted it was protected because it sat directly over a cross member. I think that was not installed when the pictures were taken, so as to be able to get a good pic. This was the cross member at the back of the skid plate, so the skid plate provided some protection also. I also ran the lines and wires inside the frame where possible, to keep things from snagging them.

Sounds like a clean mount.

I relocated my stock LP to just ahead of the fuel tank. A relatively easy and inexpensive project. If you need M12X1.5 to hose barb fittings to get the job done send me an email or pm.

asbestosican,
Did you mount it on the frame?

I'm not going to move mine now, but I will if it (when) goes out.

Yeah, I made a bracket and used the existing hole for one of the fuel line clamps. It sits about less that a foot in front of the tank.
