lift pump relocate
lift pump relocate
My Brother in law has a 99 24 valve. He wants to relocate the lift pump close to the fuel tank.Which hoses and fittings are best to use? I seen some of the after market kits using a relay,is that needed,or can we just extend the stock wiring harness? Thanks for all help
I have the stock pump in the stock location and a carter pusher @ the tank, all the fittings come in the kit from napa for $120ish I would get better hose clamps and use a relay to light it as I did and you will be dialed in. I work in Spokane if you want to see a finished product.
if you want to just move your stock pump without a pusher pump, vulcan weld offers a kit to relocate your pump and upgrade to high flow fittings to replace the banjos for $60ish I run the kit they make and my fp is never below 16psi.
a scotty smart system will allow you to use the stock lp and increase the hose/fitting size to the lp, but I think you are on your own as to moving the lp. somone with more knowledge on this will chime in.
you can move the lp only and not need a relay, if you add a pump it needs to have a relay.
the 3 systems above are very popular and proven, I like the pusher just because if one pump dies I still have a little fp to limp on, the absolute key to long life is monitoring of the fp gauge, if he does not have one tell him it is less then $50 for a fp setup and it affords great piece of mind. any upgrade done right on our 24v's is a step in the right direction.
