Lift Pump Question

I have an 02 2500 with 25,500 miles on it. I changed the fuel filter today and bumped the starter 4 times and the pump ran fine. Fired right up. Test drove it and all seemed fine. Pulled it into the garage to record the mileage and turned the ignition to "on" and what used to be a distinct pretty loud "buzz" when the ignition is turned on is now a very very quiet slight buzz. I can bearly hear it now. Before, you could really hear it.

Is this a symptom of a lift pump on the verge?

I wish I had a fuel pressure gauge.

Never mind.... just started it up and shut it down and turned the key on and the loud split second buzz is there.

I'm ordering up a fuel pressure gauge NOW though because the more miles I put on the thing the more nervous I get about that lift pump going out!

That's really the only way to tell what's actually going on with your lift pump. You'll really get some peace of mind once the gauge is hooked up. Or the gauge will make you nervous because your pressure is too low! Should be around 15 at idle, and never below 8 psi at any time.

Good luck!
