Input needed please

My friend has a 99 dual wheel standard transmission with 160K on the clock. This past weekend the engine started loping (runs smooth for about a minute then lopes about 6 or 7 times, then repeats), smokes (white/blue haze) and has no power.

We checked the fuel for contamination and it was clear.

Next step is to check the fuel pressure. Can someone advise what the fuel pressure should be?

Also, does this sound like the IP dying?

Thanks in advance for the replys!

Fuel pressure should not be less the 5 psi at WOT 10-14 idle next did you change filter? then I would go to auto zone or the likes and see if you can get the codes. 0216 is not what you want to see. that said the problems your having are some of what happens when the VP takes a dump .

Very possible. IP or Lift Pump.

As mentioned, should be 12 psi, +/- 2 psi, at idle. Check codes and pressure! Good Luck!

9-10 psi at idle and no less than 5 psi at WOT (that is assuming he doenst have the in-tank dealer "fix").

Follow the advice above.

Turns out it was the IP. New lift and IP on order. Thanks to all for the input.
