inner axle seal question

i know on the drivers side you have to pull the carrier to get at the dirvers side axle seal but what about the passenger side. do you have to pull the carrier for that as well or can you get at it from the actuator area in there.

were arguing about it here at work. the book says you can do it in 1.5 but the only way we know how to do it is to pull the carrier and then tap it out that way.

has anyone done it faster for the passenger side?

You don't pull the carrier to get at the passenger side inner axle seal. It is accessed by removing the vacuum actuator at the CAD.

I'm sure there probably is a special tool but all we ever use is a variety of picks and punches to widdle them into place with some gentle tapping of a hammer at the appropriate times.

A homemade slide hammer out of some all-thread and sockets is what I used. Got the idea from the "pavementsucks" site.

I usually use a chunk of redi-rod with appropriate sized washers or sockets, or a combination thereof to pull the seal into place. less chance of distortion that way, has worked for me every time so far.

Just food for thought
