Injector recommendations when replacing VP44 & lift pump
Injector recommendations when replacing VP44 & lift pump
Ok, since I'm replacing the injection pump AND the lift pump, it has been recommended that I consider replacing the injectors at the same time, for better power and perhaps better mileage. I would appreciate some technical recommendations as to what size(s) injectors to consider, as well as sources that are reliable and have good warranties. I do lots of towing with my fifth wheel, grossing out at 15-17,000 lbs, and have about 140K miles on this baby.
I would not have any idea why changing the injectors would have an infulence on the vp44 or lift pump but, you asked. I am fully in favor of the rv275 injectors. With the ez they give a real satisfaction in pulling hills and do improve economy.
I want to inform you about this getting better economy thing with bigger injectors. They do improve economy, but this as an average not necessarily on each tank.
Example.... Load heavy, run the whole tank with this load, heavy hills so that you are pulling a lot, maybe a head wind. This combination with larger injectors will give you a nightmare situation of fuel use. But, light loaded, favorable conditions, cruising a lot, fuel use is much better, even than stock. So you average out better mileage and are well satisfied, but be prepaired for a tank now and then that sets new records for how much fuel you can run through the truck in a given number of hours
I have found that in these situations of hard pulling, slow down, keep the rpm's up and it helps a lot. Running along at 2400 in direct is much better on fuel than running 1900 and pulling hard. An really at about the same speeds. If you can cruise along at light throttle and 2000 that will give better mileage, but not with your foot in it.

Thanks for the reply, Haulin'. I wasn't thinking any connection between doing the injectors and the pumps; just that while it's in the shop, I might as well bite the bullet and do it all! Is there any particular source you would recommend for the injectors, or should I just search the 'net?

them injectors are still fine on that truck, let a sleeping dog sleep they say why mess with it if it isnt broke, ive got a 01 auto truck with 190,000 and still the same injectors, thruck runs great pulling a 50 ft 3 car hauller grossing 30,000 pound plus,if you are going to spend the money for something spend it on fuel system(pump and gauges, they are heart of the operation you loose the pump you loose the injection pump not too far after,if you start getting passed by fords then you should change the injectors, lol just kidding, good luck,
