my buddys vp took a dump today and iam goin to help him replace it how do i static time the engine, and wut kind of time aim i lookin at to replace the pump thanx scott

There is a key that times the pump to the engine, not like the P-pump that is on an unkeyed taper. Key is opposite of the TDC mark on the pump gear. So turn the engine to TDC on the exhaust stroke (might say BDC on the timing cover) so you won't lose the key when you pull it out.
