I have a 99 4x4 cummins diesel and last night it started to cut-out, and stumble as a was driving down the highway. My first thought was that that injection pump was going out. I just replaced a dead lift pump last week and was worried I may have strained the injection pump. When it cuts-out there is a lot of white smoke.

I also have a concern about possibly putting some bad fuel in it. I just filled the truck up out of one of my storage tanks and I think there may be water in the fuel. Does anyone know how the engine will react with fuel that has water in it? Or does this sound like the injection pump? Or something else? I tried to get some codes by turning the key 3 times but I didn't get anything.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

 

The key 3 times dosent work on our 99's. try draing at the water seperator and see what you have come out...
