OK here we go,,, I have done A little research on this "hammerdown "product & from what i have seen & my usage of it , I think it is an excellent conditoner, my engine runs smoother & my mileage has increased . i won`t how much untill I fill up again. anyway the cost of the DFT#1500 is 10 dollars for 8 OZ which treats 500 gallons of #2 fuel quote author=jdeereboy link=board=4;threadid=15373;start=0#144884 date=1054576496]
This is a very interesting topic. I would like to try some of this "Hammerdown" product in some engines that I know are smoking due to carbon build up on the ends of the injectors. I would like to hear what other people are using as an addative to help lubricate and/or reduce carbon build up.

Does this lack of lubrication go hand and hand with the lift pump problems that seems to be so common?
I have talked to my neigbor who works for cummins. it has stated to me why whould cummins and Dodge offer a 100k warenty on there enignes and state that fuel additives are not recommened, He has shown me injectors from the shop with and with additives, I prefere no additives after talking to him.

I use 12 onces of Shell Rotella DFA about every 10,000 miles. That's what it recommends on the bottle and it's a little insurance if you ask me.

I've used Stanadyne, Power Service and the John Deere brands also.

DB
