I'm goin deaf...help

She's been straight piped (truck) for almost 3yrs now and I think I'm losing my hearing. It sure does sound good but I'm getting old now and my ears are talking back to me. I've about decided on a Donaldson for the price but which one would fit a stock '01 exhaust without too much modification and be the quietest? And do I keep the resonator?

Just get a decent 4" system with a muffler. If thats to loud for you then you need to be looking at the new trucks. Them are QUIET. I say just get an exhaust because the mufflers aren't cheap by themselves and then paying a shop to put it in isn't going to be free either. Might as well spend a few more bucks and get something complete which you can put together in your driveway for around $300.

agree, I just when from a 5-6" single stack back to a straight pipe 5" and I can hear my music in my truck. if you dont want to get a complete kit. you could talk to Donaldson or go on website and just tell them the pipe size you need. they are good but they are also pricey. I think just going to a performance muffler that is a a straight through design with pleats will be a dramatic sound change for you. this will also be the cheapest. go on the DTR sales and send a message and ask how much a muffler would be. they could most likely help you out. the resignator pending where you live DEQ crap, most people when they straight piped a 2nd gen they removed the resignator. you could always remove it or put it back on.

I did a search and it seems that the 51" Donaldson is quieter than a MRPB and I was thinking you could get a Donaldson for @ $80, I just didn't know which one would be the closest to a direct replacement. Empty its no problem but when you get some weight behind her, oh booooyyyyy!!!!

Isn't it funny I spent thousands of dollars in 2002 to make my truck louder now I'm spending thousands to make it quiet again. Strange things getting old does to ya eh..
