I need an opinion

I am waiting on my truck to be delivered and I ordered the 410 rear.
I am waiting on my 2500 quadcab diesel with a snow plow package and a tow package I will be doing some light snow removal my house/family and maybe a friend or two. I also tow a double waverunner trailer and a 4500# boat maybe 3-4 times a year. I also hunt but use four wheel as it is pretty snowy up there when I go up. I want to get BF Goodrich mud terrains on it.
The dealer told me today he didnt think that the 410 rear made it in for the order but it might still have it. How critical is the 410 rear will I be sorry or will I still be happy. If it doesnt have it and you think I should get it can they put it in afterwards. How hard or expensive will it be.

Any help will be greatly appreciated as I am new to diesels anyway. Thanks Don

If 4500 Lbs. is most your going to tow (even double that) the 3:73's will work fine. With that weight behind a diesel you won't even hardly be able to tell it is back there.

I don't know how expensive it would be to replace the gear set in both axles on the new american axles but on the Dana's it was real expensive, like $2,400.00 If the dealer done it. I said no thank you.

I think that you will be fine, I wouldn't worry about it. I run 3.54's and have no problems, even when my truck was stock I never felt like I needed 4.10's. I really doubt that anything you will be doing would require you to need higher gears than the 3.73's that it will have. Unless you need an extremely slow crawl rate for something, because your truck will have more than enough power to turn the 3.73's. I think 4low will be a plenty slow enough if you need it to crawl.

THe only way I would get 4:10's is if I had a heavy trailer hooked on 90% of the time.

But thats just me. The 3:73 will handle anything that you are going to throw at it.

I have the 3.54s on my '02, and although I don't pull heavy all the time I have pulled things a few times that exceed the weight you're talking about with no problems at all. Like someone else said, you can't even tell it's back there once you're moving. As a precaution, I do normally take off in 1st if I have much of a load though.

I agree, the 3.54 will be fine. The 4.10 will be unnecessary for the towing that you are talking about.

My Fiver is about 10400 loaded down and the 3.54 does fine... You will definitely be fine w/ the 3.73 on the new one!

3.73 Rear End strikes me as the best of both worlds! Especially with 4x4.
