I'm 99.9% you vapor locked it, you should have spent 5 mins. and $2.00 on some starting fluid and had it goin. Happens to me all the time, I've got to much fuel w/ injectors, hot Vp, smarty and hot juice. Sorry u waisted all that time but next time u will know what to do. Take ur air filter off and spary about a 1/10 of a sec of either and it will fire and run rough for about a min then clear up and run like it always has.

Atleast when you get in a situation like this , START with the MOST SIMPLE line of diagnosis! If a truck came into my shop, I would start like this. All this theorizing of the VP44 is silly! Its eaither bad or its not. Follow the proper diagnosis lines, And you will quickly find your self at the problem!

My father told me years ago somthing that sticks with me
KISS keep it simple stupid

My vp44 died just as you explained. Try the starting fluid but also see if you can get your hands on a scanner to pull some codes. Good Luck.

Hey guys, i have the daily update.

The ether idea....good, but i used 1/2 a can, and the pump is still not putting out any fuel.

So the pump is pulled, in a cardboard box to go for a rebuild trade in tomorrow.

The new lift pump is installed.

The new egde stage 3 jammers, are installed, just waiting on the pump and that will be that, and we will be ready to hit the road again.....i hope.

.

NEVER NEVER use 1/2 a can, should the engine have started, something would have BROKE!!!!!! just a squirt is enough. your engine should have kicked and ran for a second or two on one squirt.
Did you use ether with the fuel lines unhooked? or hooked up?

THE LINES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE HOOKED UP WHEN YOUR TRYING TO START THE TRUCK. The truck would have started and ran! If its a fuel issue , either would have started the truck weather or not the lines were hooked up! and 1/2 A Can would be your worst nightmare if your concerned about somthing happening to your truck!

Just to let everybody know the whole inside of the VP44 was welded together, basically the whole inside was shrapno.
Thanks for everybodys help.

Never use either when trying to start a diesel. There will be a real high rpm spike with either and no lubrication.

USE A RAG SOAKED WITH GASOLINE AND PUT IF OVER YOUR AIR FILTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! T

here will not be a spike in rpms. A lot more safe.

A small shot of either is completly safe, As a matter of fact, Its in some factory training. BUT You must have the engine rolling before spraying it, and must spray small shot, A gas covered rag is a good way to make a real big mess.
IMO

New lift pump
New VP44.

This would be a good reason to use a lub additive with every tank of fuel, I use a Walmart 2 stroke and amsoil diesel concetrate or Power service cocktail

check out this thread, it is on just about every forum, and alot/some makers of some products are rather dissapointed with these findings
