Hydroboost...What is it?

Was reading the thread about things that have left CTD's stranded, and a couple guys mentioned blowing out their hydroboost....things. What is that?

hydraboost is using the pressurized power steering fluid to provide the assist for power brakes instead of using engine vacuum for the assist. (since diesels dont generate engine vacuum by themselves, it is either a belt driven vacuum pump, or hydraboost.)
