HY-35 I need some info.

Hey folks,
I am told that my truck "00" has an HY-35 turbo. Can anyone tell me about this thing. What are it's limits? What would be the upgrade path? How does it compare to other turbos? Can it be used in a twin setup at a later date?

Thanks,
Tengu

It's limits are aboout 30psi and about 300hp. Anything over that and it's not only choking the engine to death, but it's also raising EGT's faster than the Space Shuttle on take off. Compared to other turbos, the only thing it has on them is spoolup. They spool wicked fast. These turbos are in fact so small that I'm told they are a very popular upgrade on a turbo'ed Honda Civic. I strongly suggest that if you go with anything over a set of 275 injectors that you start looking for new turbos. And while you can run the HY-35 with a small chip and 275 injectors, it's choking the top end up something fierce.

Yep Blue nailed it!! They spool up crazy fast but start crapping out around 30 to 35 psi. I am hitting 34psi with mine and it's maxed out, time for a new one. Another thing with them is they don't hold constant boost as easy as bigger turbos.

They are great turbos if you don't really plan on juicing up your truck any, but they restrict massive potential if you do!!

So is the size of the outlet why it is not used as the small turbo in a twin setup?
