Question Hy-35/Hx-35 bolt in?

On my buddies 01' auto he's got an Hy-35/9cm, we just plugged an old style VA box up to it, ran 16.57 @84 mph <--not bad for just a plug in...anyway, will my old HX-35/12cm bolt right in to the truck, or will we need to modify the stock downpipe in any way? Thanks...Greg

It should bolt right up. I'm looking into this swap as I want just a little extra top end. I don't plan on upgrading my truck until I have the money to do everything at once (twins, injectors, boxes, cam, head work, o-ring, studs, stacks, tranny). All you'll need is a new exhaust flange gasket.

I don't know when they changed from the v band style clamp to the bolt together style. I do know that the downpipe is the same from 2000-2002.
Hope that helped

I just did this conversion. The down pipe from my Hy bolted right up to the HX just needed a new gasket. So that means three gaskets required, manifold, exhaust flange and oil return line or about $7. Made a nice difference in mine.

There was a gasket on your downpipe? Never heard of that before. Mine just bolts on and seals up great. I need to get an HX. Mine's choking me on the top end.

Really? That's interesting. I figure there would have been at least more top end seeing as how the housing is bigger.

Hey man, what's you number again? I lost it last time you gave it to me. I'm looking to take a vacation and San Antonio is looking really nice. You coming to College Station anytime this summer? Let me know if you do. I got a place you can stay.

I've got a HX-35 that came off my truck at 50k. If anyone is interested, PM me. I'm letting it go for cheap.

The turbo is a modified Schwitzer. A very informative thread can be found here. Scroll down and read Push Rod's posts, they'll tell you all you need to know.
