How's your fuel economy?

Finally, made a long distant run with all of the new add ons.
Over a 400 mile run and running at 70 to 72 mph I only got 15.4 mpg. That's worse than when I was stock!
What's everybody else getting?

I got 20mpg average on a 700 mile round trip this winter. That was before the comp. With the comp I know I'm getting better but I can't keep my foot out of the gas.

I've gotten a smidge over 20 mpg on a long haul with my truck... I usually keep the cruise set at a tick under 70 though.

made a 400 mile trip not long ago, averaged 18.2 at 72 mph, with a ladder rack on the truck.

I was expecting 18 to 19. I was shocked at such a low number. Not sure what would cause numbers.

my 02 i would get around 16-17mpg with the mods listed at 75-80mph for a 1000 miles. my 92 gets 22mpg at 60-65mph and 17.5mpg at 70-75mph, these figures were from two days ago. will be interesting to see what the 92 does during the summer.

winter diesel is said to lower the mpg figure, but cold weather seems to effect it also. i wonder if anyone has compared dyno results with blended diesel vs. summer diesel. it would be tough since it should be done on the same day. just curious as to power loss which i would think would assume equates to mpg loss for the winter blend.

check fuel filter, air filter, tire pressure, use cruise control if equipped, when accelerating be easy on it, use injection cleaner or cetane booster, go slower (not everyone likes this idea)

just noticed that your truck is a 3500, so i assume its a dually. a lot more drag.

I started to think about the trip last night.
I was heading west / north west which was bucking a 10 to 15 mph head wind the whole time. The truck is a dually and I also had the mirrors extended. I'm not sure the mirrors have anything to do with it but you never know. Even small kites take wind.
I did use the cruise control and always take off slow. I also use power services cetane booster in the tank.
Maybe a warmer day and a tail wind will get me to the magic 19 - 20 mpg number.

Believe it or not, I wouldn't be surprised if having the mirrors extended made a difference. I know that I can see an improvement of nearly 2mpg's when I take the ladder rack off the truck. Also headwinds make a huge difference in mileage.

I talked with a man last week-end at the local shopping center. I was waiting for my wife to finish her shopping. He was driving a 2000 4wd 4.10 -auto, 315 tires, after alittle chit-chat he proceeds to tell me he just came back from Fla. and got 30 MPG, he wasn't sure what mods he had because he paid someone to do them. Don't you just like a guy who tries to BS you when you know what our trucks are capable of. I forgot to ask if he was pulling a trailer LOL. My milage is about half of his. Thanks Steve B.

I was getting 15-18 when I bought this truck, I added the superchips and my mileage went up in the 19-20 range, I then added the VA on top of that and am running 22+ just did injectors in hope of a bit more.

one thing to look at is the iat sensor, if it gets too sooty, and it does, it will cause your 24v trucks to run in the rich mode all the time...10 minutes to maybe save some casholine!

oh and my truck is a 4.10 truck too
