My last 1,000 mile test came out to 17.8 mpg.
That's rural living (no daily gridlock) and 25% at gross weight (but almost no towing).

For a good running (stock) and empty truck I would say the average is about 17-18 MPG.
Like I'm finding out driving style has a lot to do with it. I'm now pushing 20.37 MPG with only the mod's in my signature.
If you got a jake... Make sure to clean your MAP and IAT sensor often...

I just switched out my tranny fluid and rear oil to synthetic after 64k (Amsoil) and the comp is saying I'm getting better. Was 18.1 now it's 18.3 and rising. I don't have enough miles on this tank to do the manual calc but the last 3 times I've done manual vs comp the numbers were within a tenth which for me is more then I trust my math.
It'll take a lot of miles to pay the difference in cost of synth over plain old mineral oil prices but if the milage is going up then I hope the wear is going down and that "could" save me big bucks.

I get about 15 around town, 17 highway, don't have the overhead. The auto & 4*4 combined hurts the most. My dad has a 2wd with the auto & 4.10's & he still gets 18-19 around town. But compared to a 360 or v-10, I assume this is pretty decent. No gas motor will get this in a 3/4 or 1 ton.

Newer vehicles the engine is not as broken in, It seems that the common rails don't get as good milage as the ISB's which aren't quite as good as the 12v.
How heavy is your right foot? Drive over 70? That will kill milage.
