How to remove the radiator fan?

How does one remove the fan? Does the fan and clutch come out together?

I've been wanting to do this for winter time since I've read here that it helps with warm up time and eficiency.

Get a wrench on the big nut between the clutch and the pulley, and give it a smack in a CW direction. Its left hand thread on the 2nd gens.

Only thing I would add is try to hold the fan with something

and yes the clutch and fan come off then separate the fan

I just took mine off tonight, took me 5 min at most. I used a large pair of channel locks to grip the pulley and a 36 mm fan wrench I got from the snap-on guy. couple whacks with a dead blow and it broke lose.
