I just changed my differential fluid and added about 1 oz of the mopar friction modifier. Without the modifier I could hear the rear tire on the inside of a tight turn "chirp" a little bit. When I added the 1 oz I have to cut it as tight as I can an run around 25 mph to make it chirp. Is that about right or should I add alittle more?

 

According to Dodge, you are supposed to use 8 ounces.

 

I have been stuck in the mud twice since I bought the truck and both times only one of the rears would spin. I think it had the original differential oil in it with the recommended 8 oz dose. I don't think that the limited slip ever really worked. I know I have never felt it want to grab like it does now.

 

No, no. You are only supposed to add just enough to stop the clutch plates from chattering. Go to an empty parking lot or field and do slow and tight figure 8's. You rear tire on the outside of a turn should grab and chirp slightly. It should not slip completely like an open diff, nor should it grab hard like a locker.

I thought it would have been the inside as well. Doesn't the limited slip force the tire that is not turnig as fast to turn?

 

You guys are right, silly me . I was thinking backwards.

 

actually it depends on the speed your going. The inside will chirp if you've got enough centrifical force to "lighten" the inside wheels. If your idling around the 8s it's pretty much a tossup and the pavement conditions will effect it more.
Then again if your foot finds the floor both wheels should make a very satisfying noise
