How important is intake air temp ?
I was just wondering how important is air intake temp ?
Since CTDs have intercoolers to cool off air, I noticed that AC condenser being in front of cooler it gets hot during use.
This means air will not get as cool as with no AC running.
Does this + outside temp influence performance ? Any remedy on this ? I understand high speed travel does help, but slow traffic speed should decrease intake performance, correct ?
I might put another sensor on intake and splice Trans temp gauge wiring with a switch and check difference during travel.

Yes, the A/C condenser will generate heat that reduces the efficiency of the aftercooler.
This will show up as a couple degrees higher EGT. It's almost undetectable, even with gauges. This, because you're usually running the A/C in hotter temps that would cause higher EGT to begin with.

Hi Hohn, how's WY these days, I used to leave 80 mls south of Casper....miss it a lot....that's what you call Open Range.....best place on earth....
This time of the year, popping up on a hill horseback at 7:30pm when "long shadows" are surrounding you and see the vastity and the miles of prairies and land beneath you, almost the curve of the Earth...all green and fresh.. touch of spurs and you are flying through the grass....
Thanks for the reply, I thought it was more than few degrees, I will study on this...
