High idle after using cruise on interstate
High idle after using cruise on interstate
I notice that my idle increases by 75 or so rpm after a run down the interstate at 65 - 70 miles per hour with the cruise set.
When I stop the engine and restart it the idle drops back down until the next time I use cruise.
What could be causing this?

mine will go up 100-150 after a long run on CC. its sorta strange but has not left me stranded I dont know if its in need of a reflash or what, but I wont take my truck back to the dealer for nothing. my truck is not stock anymore.

When I had this problem the Pacbrake would not engage. This all tied into the APPS going out on me. If you have no other problems don't worry about it. I found away around the exhaust brake problem and put up with the idle issue for 4 years. When I started having dead pedal issues on a trip I replace the APPS and everything is fine now.

It's totally normal. Do a search on it an you will see that the PCU/ECU has numerous idle speeds based on countless paramaters. You're experiencing the "cruise idle" that happens sometimes after cruising at highway speeds....
Had the exact problem however mine would idle to almost 1200 RPM. Mine was the APPS and after replacing it that stopped but it would still idle up just a little bit after cruise was engaged for a while or just after running at highway speeds for a while. That is normal. Ive heard that its something to do with all the sensors readjusting and it just takes a second??? but it is normal.
