Help it wont start

Help it wont start

PLEASE HELP. It turns over then drains the batteries. I tested the altanater and they said it was fine. Replaced the batteries. changed the terminals, starter engages and turns. starts out with 14 v then after about turn overs im down to 9 v. Im lost any help would be great. thanks.

changed fuel filter? crack an unjector line to see if fuel is squirting? remove the quad from all connections and try again? any codes?

You don't give enough information. Does the engine turn over normally when the batteries are fully charges? If so, you have a fuel problem. Is the lift pump delivering fuel to the VP? LP should kick with key to run. You should have gauges so you know it is working & also what the normal pressure is. Do you have any codes? CKP can go out without codes but VP won't fire = fuel problem.

Yes, the last time it started I just put two brand new batteries in. It turned reght over and started. I drove it for about an hour down the road shut it off went inside came back out and it crnked slower and slower each time. Then smoke came from the silanoid on the starter and I had to have it towed home. I get fuel up to the banjo going it to the vp but I never cracked the injector line yet. The fuel pressure is at 12 psi and thats whereit usually runs. no codes but what is a CKP? Thanks for your help guys.

Well, smoke from the starter tells me it is smoked, I killed one like that not long ago.

Get a known good starter after you make sure the engine will roll over with a barring tool.

I would almost bet that is your issue, starter drawing way too many amps.

Don't forget, cranking speed is related to how well these things fire off.

I've had to replace starts on 40% of the 24Vs I've owned. The aftermarket starters are usually terrible and don't seem to last long. Look into the solenoid contact repair/upgrade kit. It's easy to install and cheap.
