Last week, I noticed my wipers were very slow in the high speed mode, then the high speed just stopped working.

This evening my slow & intermittant became very slow and also stopped working all together.

The fuse is ok, is there a speed module, or did I loose my wiper/turn indicator switch? Are the parts available at the auto parts stores?

I can't say what went south but the multifunction switch should be available at local parts stores.

 

I have heard of a couple cases where a wiper pivot seized up and wouldn't move. Seems to me that that could cause what you describe. It's worth a look anyway. It could be diagnosed by disconnecting the linkage from the motor, and see if the wipers will move freely by hand without the motor attached.

 

How do you get to the motor, can it be accessed with out pulling the dash?

 

there is a plastic cover held in with plastic reusable rivets that covers everything. it is right in front of the windshield, actually covers the bottom of the windshield (under the hood)

 

Mine suffered from a seizing pivot, which killed the motor, but others found a bad switch.

You can jump the motor wires to see if its working, if the pivots are free its probably the switch.

The "U-Boat" wiper systems motor was full of water. Now the question is, do I buy it from Dodge, who makes leaky motors or Autozone/Advance/O'Riley?

 

i bought one for my wife Jeep at Autozone because of the lifetime warranty, i keep my stuff for along time.

it wasn't cheap, close to the same price everywhere

 

Wasn't cheep means about how much?

 

Mine was under warranty, but I seem to think the part was around $150.

 

I just spoke to Dodge, they no longer sell just the motor, you have to buy the entire asssmbly with arms & posts, it's over $500, maybe close to $575!
