Question

Does anyone who has ran a longer hose have trouble with it freezing up in the winter?

I just removed the bottle and ran a hose straight down the front of the motor.

I removed my bottle and replaced it with a hose that went straight down. While that worked fine the vapor still gunked up some stuff just in a different place. I then replaced that with a longer hose and have it come out behind the front diff. I do not seem to have much of an issue with the vapor still gunking stuff up. As far as freezing up as long as you dont have low spots there will be no place for condensation or what have you collecting and freezing. Others have just zip tied an old sock around the bottle with apparently great results. Just replace the sock once a year or so.

Mine's the same...comes out behind the front axle and just to the passenger side of the front diff. It hangs about three inches below the axle tube. Never had a problem with it freezing up or anything. After it leaves the gearcase cover I have the tube ziptied to something on or near the side of the motor or motormount just to keep it in place, and make sure there's no low spots.
I used clear internal braided hose from Lowe's....probably about 6' long, but trim to fit. 3/4" ID, and you'll need a 3/4" hose coupler.
Been this way for three years now.
I can take some pics if you want.

I did the same as BigBlue above... just extended the line about 15" and no breather bottle. Works great and has for 2+ years.

i ran my to the driver side of the engine under the radiator hose zip tied it to the fan shroud then took a 3' long pvc pipe and ran it at a downward angle and zip tied it to the motor mount next to the starter and then it exits right at the bottom of the frame on the drivers side. There is more clearance were its resting now then it did the stock way and there is no wires or horses it going to rub on and i still can access every thing in the engine bay. Any one notice who makes these bottle? there made by Nalgene Water Bottles heh. I am goin to run this way for now i might later on shortin up my down pipe and put a hose on the end and re mount the bottle but i think this way is going to be top notch. I will take some phots later and post them on here.

Now whats left is to give my engine bay a good scrubbin cause even though i checked it my bottle finally bite me in the rear. I might have to make my down pipe a little longer i will see what it makes the starter look like from the vapor but so far so good.

Can someone tell me where to find this "breather bottle" My truck has a rubber tube hanging down at the front left of the engine but I see no "bottle" associated with it. (I have been having some heating problems and want to do something about. after reading this forum the first thing I want to do is do something about the potential for the oil coming from the breather tube to foul my radiator)
