Hard start....update

Well I've been having a hard start since october of 06' and it's driving me crazy. I rebuilt my holley and also put in a draw straw and neither did anything. So this past week I got all new hose, a few fittings, a new pump and dual spin on filters. Also I ditched the stock fuel filter and housing. Well I installed everything and it didn't fix my hard start. Do yall have any other ideas as to what could be wrong?

Oh and after I installed everything I had to wait few days for my 90* Aeroquip fitting to come in the mail to replace my vulcan fitting, I noticed that NO fuel drained out of the VP or the hose when I went to put the Aeroquip fitting on. The truck has been sitting over night. SO the fuel is draining back in the tank some how. Any ideas?

Also the other day a I had a hissing noise coming from my fuel cap while the truck was off and as soon as a I took the cap off the tank let out a some air as if it had been pressurized. Is this normal? It's been making this noise long before I had a hard start.

Thanks for any help guys. This hard start BS is really getting on my last nerve.

Did it let out some air or draw some in? If your vent is plugged and you are pulling a vacuum on the tank it may be pulling fuel back leaving a loss of prime.

A check valve between the pump and the VP may be necessary to keep the fuel up at the vp overnight. My walbro setup gives hard starts sometimes after it sits more than two weeks. Also try bumping the starter once before you start it, let the holley run till it stops to prime the vp, and then start it. It sounds as if you are losing prime to the vp. Prime to the injectors themselves are probably fine.

I do that every time I start the truck. So times I have to bump it twice.

How many times have you done injectors to your truck?

Did you torque the high pressure lines more then 32 ft/lbs?

I know after about 4 or 5 sets of injtector swaps my injection lines and connector tubes had develped some leaks. The system would slowly bleed down causing hard starts.

I replaced all the injector lines and connector tubes and it fixed my problem.

I've changed out my injectors 2 times, but my hard start became a problem before I installed my injectors. I think I'll just replace my Orings on my connector tubes first. How much are new injection lines?

Would I benefit any from getting the next size up connector tubes?

Bigger connector tubes? Probably not.

You do not want to buy new lines!!! Get them from a blown stock motor.

10-4 Justin. I'll check my lines for cracks and see what I come up with.

Thanks!
