i have a friend that has well over 300,000 miles on his truck "and" it's original VP! he will not buy a new VP unitl it is dead.

i read here somewhere a cool little trick to try do when you VP is acting up. it changed the timing, puts the VP control in a different spot or something??

something to try when you engine cranks but will not fire. he does do the lift pump run when it wont start, no help.

anyone know what that cool trick or test is?

if its a hard start when hot pour cold water on the top of the vp ,the other is to unplug the lp for a sec.

 

does he have a fuel pressure gauge?
does it read when its hard to start..mine's be 'hard' to start sometimes..
I since learn the I had no fuel pressure..then the lift pump started..and the truck started..

shot in the dark..I know mine start better with pressure than without.
