24 Valve Gossip

Well, the truck in my Sig I sold a couple years ago. I owned stock 96 and 90 12 valves before the 98 that I left stock. I'm tired of my gasser and have been looking at another Cummins, I rarely haul anything anymore btw. I have been debating what setup 1994-2005 I want. I have decided I want a 2000-2002 24 valve stick shift 2wd extended cab. Anything you guys have to throw in would be great. Its nice to be searching the threads in here again!

BTW, I plan to install a fass pump asap when I buy a 24 valve. My 98 was running 450 HP 1150 lbs tq on the setup in my Sig. It was on stock timing BTW. I'd like to bump the 24 up to around 350 for DD. What does it take to attain this on a 24 valve. I'm new to electronic fueling!

My plans are rv275's, boost fooler and power puck/edge EZ.

That's pretty good for around 300+ hp and not too expensive.

If you get an Edge EZ, you will not need a boost fooler. The Edge EZ was my first power upgrade :-)

I was thinking adrenaline quadzilla with pulse and fuel pressure gauge kit. A nice intake, 4 inch exhaust. What do y'all think about that programmer set up? Will the stock turbo be OK as long as I stay with stock injectors? I'm assuming that programmer with bigger sticks will be to much fuel for the stock turbo.

I think you will be fine if you get an EGT kit and keep it on the 1000 series tunes.

Cool, I've been searching threads like crazy. Other than keeping the vp44 full of fuel it seems pretty simple to get some power out of the 24 valve. Not as many bloody greasy, knuckles as the p7100 for sure.

That is almost my setup also but I also run 90 hp injectors. With the hx turbo and a 6 speed it all works great. I would not pull a sled or even a trailer with it set on max but if you set your defueling up correctly it would be fine. I only tow on level one on the adrenaline which adds timing only.

I do use the 2000 or Comp tunes as my daily driver but I tweak the fueling a bit so they are not so jumpy. I start can fueling at 25 % throttle and pump tap fueling at 40% because I generally only hit 40 % when I really want to go.

You will definitely need to upgrade the lift pump. I ran a Fass for a few years but have recently changed to the belt drive Fuel Boss setup. I have never been an electric pump fan. Mechanical just plain works with no drama.

Great information, I appreciate it. I'm gonna look into that mechanical pump rig.
