Grinding feeling on floorboard

In the last week or so, I have noticed a strange grinding feeling coming from the floorboard on both sides. It is more apparent on the passenger side. I thought it could be my tires, but that "knobby" feeling seems a little different. It is not anything to do w/ brakes. I feel this grinding all the time, not just when braking. It feels like a "rolling grinding" if yall can picture that. I don't know too much about the front end assembley and was wondering what it might be. I've greased all my zerks not too long ago. Can it be some kind of bearing or something in that nature. Thanks for the help.

Could be your front wheel bearings or u-joints. Best bet is to jack up the front and spin the tires to see if you can track it down.

I've got the same thing! I'd be interested to find out. I was thinking wheel bearings too, but I bought the truck from the dealer, who replaced brakes at all four corners before the sale ... I guess that doesn't mean much.

Hey, dodgediesel4x4, did you ever get this resolved? If so, what was the problem?

grind

check your left front whee bearing,,, on mine, the nut backed off due to wheel rotation. i caught it in time & no damage was done. the grinding noise was the brakes on that side----

on
my truck there is no cotter key on the nut, they used a nylon lock nut
2 wheel drives use that nut

I haven't had time off of work to get a look at it yet. Hopefully tomorrow I can jack up the front end and spin the wheels to see if I can see or feel anything outta the ordinary. I'm also gonna check the pads and see how they are wearing. The pads don't have more than 6k on them. Whatever it is, I hope that it is cheap, being a broke college kid and all.

If you figure it out, let me know, I'd be interested in hearing what the problem is. I'll be checking mine too ... probably not tomorrow .

I checked the bearings and everything appeared fine. There is a cotter pin on my front axles, so no chance they'll back off. Anyone got any other ideas?

Check the feont wheels for play. Jack it up and try to move the tire from top to bottom. Also check the u-joints for play. You don't want to have a wheel bearing go out on the road. It happened to me a 70MPH. Not fun! Good luck. Hope this helps.
