No barking.

My turbo does sounds like a jet airplane. It only sounds this way when my turbo spools up and I am trying to figure out why. There might be a little play front to back but no side to side or up and down.

I dont know if my silencer ring is still attached? Where is it located?

C-clamp

Yea I searched the site. It is the C-clamp ring just inside the housing flange.

Thank you

should be virtually NO play front to back, up and down side to side is normal, as soon as there is oil pressure the shaft is suspended. the turbine should not touch the housing if you push sideways while you try to rotate it. if it does you have issues and it needs to be fixed.

are you complaining of noise or what? if your hearing lots of noise when making boost check (actually tighten ) each clamp and look for rips in the intercooler boots, it might sould like a whisle whoosh type noise.

Hmm, take off the 90 degree pipe from the turbo compressor outlet and move it to the side. Start and run the truck and see if oil is coming out of the turbo.

My stock HX35 started to get more and more play (not much) but enough that I could notice over about half a year. The rear side of the compressor housing (where it bolts to the exhaust housing) was getting covered with a film of oil. As well as there would be small traces of oil on the inducer wheel like you are seeing.

When I moved the pipe attaching the turbo to the aftercooler and ran the truck. Drops of oil would drip out of the turbo oulet (where the 90 degree pipe normally hooks up via the V Clamp). Get in the truck, rev up the engine and my frame would be coated in oil. Turns out my internal bearings and seals were shot. I would check over your turbo as well as your boots like nickg has said.

Unless you are just running an air filter that requires oil and you are using too much?

Could be boost leak; Boots, Aftercooler, intake horn and intake gasket.

Boost leak

I have been trouble shooting my intake system and did find a leak in my air plenum. I tightened the bolts and no more exhaust leak.

Could this be why the oil is on the intake side of the flange? Fixed the exhaust leak, should not see anymore oil then, right?

Hope the oil in the dust got there after you took off the boot, while u are looking at the oil leak, u might want to ensure the air filter is sealing correctly, and there are no leaks in the air inlet between the filter and the turbo, either one of these wil lead to increased turbo noise, and ultimate failure..
