Gate stuck in heat-a/c duct

Gate is stuck in the defrost position...can't get air from any other setting. The heat & a/c works fine...just can't dislodge the gate that directs the air flow...any suggestions...?
thanks

The mode actuator is vacuum controlled, typically means the vacuum tube has come out of the connector up at the cowl in the engine compartment. This typically happens when you have been rooting around working on the engine. Could also be simple rot though. Start tracing the vacuum lines at the vacuum pump and work your way back.
