fuel milage getting worse and worse,any help

fuel milage getting worse and worse,any help

i have a 01 dodge dually 4x4 quad,automatic,with 3.55 ,with 87,000 miles on it,when i bought it,i was getting 18-20 highway and 12-15mpg around town,now im lucky to see 14-15 highway and 5-10 around town,my average is 12 and used to be 16,my neighbor has a 98 getting 21,and friend has a ho cummins in his 01 and he is getting like 600 miles on a tank,im at alot less than that,could the lift pump be going bad?seems to be having normal power,but cant be positive,what else could cause these symptoms?what pump should i buy if my pump is bad?,another question non related,if i put a bully dog puck on ,do i have to reset the computer by unhooking the battery?any help on these questions would be greatly appreciated, HELPP >

I got your pm this morning. I would look at resetting the APPS. Un hook the negative terminals on the batteries. Leave them unhooked for 30 mins. Then re connect and turn the key on and push pedal to the floor and turn the key off. This resets the APPS. That was what was told to me the other day. I hope it works for you. There are other things to do, but I cant remember the thread it was under. I will look later tonight and pm you back.<br><br>Welcome to DTR!!!!

First off is the air and fuel filters clean?

I would check for any codes. Then check your fuel pressure. Change the IAT sensor.

I would check your lift pump when mine went out in my 01 the mileage went south. The quickest way to check is to turn your key on and listen for it. It is covered under warranty so dont let them tell you different.
