boost module/turbo elbow

I was wondering if I could get a little help. I have given a friend my VA box and boost module w/turbo elbow off of my 99 truck for his 2001 dodge. No problem with the VA box; but the boost module has a different shaped 3-prong plug. The turbo elbow was shaped a little different but seemed interchangeable with the one I gave him. Unfortunately I can't remember exactly where I got the boost module; seems like it was Professional Diesel Services or something like that, I think out of Montana. I wanted to call them and see if I could just get a new plug for the ends, or should I just get a whole new module/elbow because I shouldn't be trying to put my '99 stuff on his '01. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Triangle plug is the data link connector. You should find it under the vp44 drivers side of the engine. If I remember correctly the VA plugs in the VP44 with a flat plug right? On a 99 you should have the triangle data link, meaning no adapter should be needed.

Glenn

Re:boost module/turbo elbow

Thanks BFC.
Yeah, the VA has the big flat plug and isn't a problem. And it is working well on the '01 though I got it from my '99.
But the boost module, which is a lot smaller plugs into a small triangle shaped plug. Unfortunately on the '01 the 3-way plug is not triangle configuration. I guess I need to figure out who I got the thing from, or get something similar from someone else because the addition of the boost module with turbo elbow really complemented the VA well.
Matt

Hey Matt,

You may want to check with a VA box dealer, but its likely your 99 box won't work well on a 2001. In 98.5 - 2000, the MAP sensor voltage is a baseline .5 volts at idle, while the 2001 and up MAPs are a baseline 1.05 volts. This means that as boost comes up, the 99 VA won't fuel hard as its never seeing the correct boost. This is the way it works on an Edge product. Diablo and TST have sensing technology in them to allow for switching, but I'm not sure about the VA.

Rod
