FrontDiff vent tube
Walked outside at dinner today and noticed that I had stuff leaking down behind my passeneger front tire. Pulled the BHAF out and noticed that I am leaking gear oil out of the front diff vent tube. I checked the front diff and was not really low, could have added some, but didn't yet.

Why is this vent tube leaking like this?

You sure the BHAF isn't sucking the oil up and out of the diff

Seriously... the winter weather can allow ice to form in vent tube if any moisture is present.. building up psi and then releasing and carrying oil up and out..
Change oil in diff bet it has condensation in it.

DuaneW.

Re:FrontDiff vent tube
Both my 98 & 99 would do this but only after a long trip (250 miles plus) Would check and never was low on fluid. It would be so bad that there would be an oil spot where I had parked after the trip. Once it was bad enough that at a stop light we could smell it in the cab (I think it was on the first long trip in my 98) It finnally just quit.

I washed my truck Sunday and Monday I went to IN and back to KY total miles I drove was about 500 miles that day. I first noticed it Tuesday at dinner.
I also washed my truck Monday night after I got back home cause the salt was so bad from driven that many miles.
It must have started Monday then
