MPG guesser

I've had my 02 for 12,000 miles now and I never checked what my MPG computer said against my odometer. On the average it said I was getting 13 -13.5 which I thought was strange as my previous gas Ram got about that but it seems like I was going a lot further between fillups. After reading all the comments about the MPG guesser I check it with the odometer and am getting more like 16-17. Maybe I can rip it out and put a nice 42" plasma tv up there instead.

Re:MPG guesser

The mpg guessers are only there to give you an educated guess. You would figure that they would be a little more accurate in this day and age of computer controls.
Anyways, welcome to the site, lots of good info.
Good to see that Big Ed and myself are not the only ones from RI here.

tlea7
Mind reads high also. Temp. gauge is also about 2% high all the time. Got 17 mpg. on last tank of fuel, got 19 and 20 once or twice last summer. we are getting winter fuel here now. Diesel fuel is selling for 1.45 to 1.48 per gallon. Its 6 above zero as I type. 8:30 Wed. eve. So far all I did to my truck was take off the resonator behind the muffler. Napa sells a replacement pipe that will fit in their. It did not help the mpg. but the exhaust can get out faster. Back to the over head monitor my clock works just fine.
waam Holland Mich
