front wheel making noises

I have a noise coming from my driverside front wheel,it makes this noise whether i am in 4 wheel drive or 2 wheel drive.kind of makes a squalling, whiny chirpping sound under acceleration, and kind of metallic(tinny) sound under deaccleration. above 20 mph or so i am getting a vibration. anyone had this before?

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Sounds like wheel bearing. Raise wheel off ground and shake for movement. More than 1/8 inch at outside of tire probablly indicates wheel bearing. Should be able to see.

Thanks Dozer! was't sure if it was the wheel bearing or maybe the front hub.once the weather warms up a little around here i will check it out, until then it can sit in the driveway.

Could be the joint as well and sometimes the ball joints get so far out the joint will scream under the angle.

The u-joint can be shot and show no signs of play. Rotate the wheel, or have someone else do it with your head under there. Maybe the point of origin will rear itself.

Also, don;t forget sometimes the noises in the back sound like they are in the front.
